Online Communication and Collaboration Project
As a communication and collaboration project recently I created a Desire2Learn workshop class for my college students. I posted a test tips discussion starter and uploaded notes about test tips that I had found. My students spent two weeks engaging in a discussion sharing their favorite study tips. They shared anything from finding a good quiet study area to listening to music and retrieving the information by humming the same song to creating word games for memory. Far more students participated in this workshop than had participated in traditional lecture style workshops. The students were also able to view the lecture style workshop on video via the internet at their convenience. This is useful for them to visit at a later date if they want to refer back or if they missed the opportunity this time. Kids seemed to like the convenience and the novelty of using the internet to communicate rather than having to be present at the appointed time. I will definitely do this style of workshop in the future and I'm encouraging my colleagues to present in this manner as well. Margaret Trio Tutor
